We are in the process of refining our platform to focus on 3 issues. At a time when we could easily be divided over the multitude of problems, we need to narrow our focus in order to make our voices louder.

There is a great discussion thread that took place yesterday at http://wcollier.blogspot.com/2009/04/what-is-tea-party-manifesto.html regarding just this. I encourage everyone to give thought to the specific point in time YOU said, "I've had enough." For me, a mother of four who takes care of our home and children, it was the stimulus bill full of pork. I didn't like the idea of a big spending bill to start, and passing it without reading it was irresponsible. Those two things really bothered me. Then I began to learn what was in the bill. Here I am, watching my thermostat and lights to lower our electric bill. Printing out coupons for the first time since my early days of marriage, watching what I buy at the grocery store and trying to save a dollar at every turn. I'm getting preached at by our President that we need to cut back and save at home, and yet our Congress passes the most irresponsible bill full of wasteful spending. Our government hasn't cut back, they have been no example to follow. That was my turning point. From that day, it has only gotten worse and my passion and anger has only gotten stronger.

We are in this together. This isn't my crusade or the crusade of a few. THIS is for the local town's people of North Lake County, FL to stand together and be heard. I may not be heard alone. You may not be heard alone, but together, we are not alone and great things can be accomplished .

What would you like to see as one of our three platform issues? What was it that drove you to the edge? I want the non-stimulas pork repealed from the Stimulus Bill. What do you want?

Good Morning. Will you please give more information about the tea party and what will be going on. It's not that far off and I would love to have flyers or something to send out to my family and friends. School is out on Spring Break the week of the tea party so there will be people that could attend. Please post more information.

Since you are still planning, I have a suggestion. I'd like to hear the Tax Payer Declaration of Independence read. Then let those in attendance sign a copy that would be delivered to our representative(s) in congress, preferably via certified mail so they have to sign for it.

Be encouraged, some meaningful issues came to light yesterday with regard to the preeminence of international law over American Constitutional law. In discussions with many people who ought to know what is happening in America, they are really uninformed.

Bizarre actions are not limited to the Federal Government. Our Governor agreed to take stimulus funds before he even knew what strings were attached. Even if that action can not be retracted, Floridians need to think through the issues rather than accept them at face value. Poor decisions are made by both Republican and Democrats.

The question is, "Is a TEA Party the proper vehicle for bringing key issues to light?" Initially, my thought is, If not here, then where?

There is an eclipse of reason in how a person representing America can take an oath promising to uphold the Constitution, then take steps to trash it within almost immediately.

With so many pieces that deserve the attention of the American taxpayer, this TEA party will probably be the first of many. Americans have got to become more involved in OUR government. After all, it is ours.

This and future TEA Parties can only be successful by a show of numbers. Invite everyone you know.

Our politicians hold dominion over us because we give the power to do so. They hold the tax code in their hands and use the might and power of our military to enforce it. If can reform the tax code and take away much of their power things might change. I would love to see us take a stand for the Fair Tax initiative. It was once said "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely". Now is the time for a grass roots initiative to change things.

Above is the Site that the St. Augustine Tea Party has set up, their are some great ideas for slogans and quotes to use on flyers or signs. I have already spoken to people at work and they are very interested in going to the tea party. I only hope that we can get the word out soon enough.

Also I just want to make sure that this is more of a family event because I know several people that would like to take their children

I think the first thing that got blood shooting out of my eyes was the stimulus with all the pork. I also believe that the politicians in Washington don't connect with the average citizen and don't listen to anything we say, therefore it is up to us to vote them out. There is no regard for the Constitution in Washington. They do whatever they think will win them votes whether it is right or wrong. PEOPLE WAKE UP WE NEED TO UNITE!

im glad to see a local event two things that i beleive is the fair tax should prsented to the people for this will take much power from the goverment next local property taxes those propertys that are not homesteaded which means there usally buisness i own afew rental im paying 25%tax because they raise the value of my prop and i didnt buy during the houseing boom where there almost not worth dealing with and why would any one want to invest property in lake county for localy we have a much better chance o f getting things done much faster

Odds are that many of us have never been to an event like this, but when the community sees that this is a Family Friendly Event that represents the kind of values that most Americans Share it will be empowering for our future.
